Trip Preparation

In order to prepare for my 3 week road trip through the UK (http://www.bassdrum.ca/v2/uktrip2012.shtml) I will be driving on the left side of our roads for the next 2 weeks. Thought I should let you know! ;)

Here, Have Some Soy Sauce. Oh, Here, Have Some More!...

Why do they make soy sauce bottles with that double-sided spout? Not that I don't enjoy the stuff on MY WHOLE MEAL, I'm just asking.

2 Final Flicks of 2011

I was surprised that I managed to find time to take in a couple of movies before 2011 ended. Let me tell you about them.

On October 24, 15 minutes before show time, Jesse called and suggested we check out the movie "The Big Year". Because it starred Steve Martin, Jack Black & Owen Wilson, I was all for it, with high expectations of non-stop laughter. The movie was done well, I suppose, and I chuckled a time or two, but Comedy? I think it was called that entirely basd on the characters. If you decide to check this one out, push play prepared for more of a "family moral / priorities" movie than a comedy. Good show, won’t make my movie wall.

Almost two months later (December 19), Mandi & I made a last minute decision to run to Galaxy Cinemas fully expecting to be a few minutes late for "Sherlock Holmes 2 - A Game Of Shadows". As we walked into the dark theatre carrying our popcorn, pop & Peanut M&M’s (the 3 essential "P’s" of any movie experience), I anticipated standing on the stairs for half the movie waiting for my pupils to dilate enough to pick out a pair of empty seats. But that wasn’t the case, as the moment the thought crossed my mind, someone turned on the lights and announced the movie was delayed due to "Projector issues". Good for us, I thought. We easily found our seats and sat waiting. The lights went out. The curtains opened. We waited. And we waited. More waiting. The lights came back on. A lady came in and announced the movie was cancelled, and we should see her for free movie passes. So, we finished our 3 P’s, got our movie passes, and called it a night. We did make it back a few days later, on the 23rd, and finally got to see the show. Great movie. Not as good as the first (sequels never are), but it will make the collection, none the less.
